How the Insurance Claims Process Works

1. Owner must contact their insurance company's claim center and inform them that their property has sustained storm damage and must be repaired or replaced.

2. After filing your claim your insurance company will contact you to schedule a time for your property assessment. (Remember to tell your insurance company you have selected DSS Exteriors as the contractor for your repairs and make sure to get the name and phone number of the adjustor assigned to your claim and to call us with that information.)

3. When your insurance company contacts you, inform them that DSS EXTERIORS is representing you and you must be present at the property adjustment.

4. Your DSS Field Representative will review the full scope of damage with your adjustor on your property. This ensures that proper damage assessment and pricing for repairs are thoroughly reviewed and agreed to and that all replacement for damages are performed to meet current state and city building codes.

5. Upon receipt of the insurance company's adjusters summary, and your first check from the insurance company, call your Field Representative and schedule a time to meet with them to select the products and colors to be used on your project.

6. DSS EXTERIORS will then review your damage summary and collect the first check released by your insurance company in order to get your project started.

7. DSS EXTERIORS willt hen submit your project for approval and processing to management. Upon approval a DSS Exteriors Representative will contact you to schedule your project for construction.

8. Upon completion of your project, our inspector will examine the completed work and pick up any left over materials. DSS Exteriors will then submit a final invoice to your insurance company for the release of any witheld funds and/or supplements needed to finalize the completion of your project. When you receive the final check from your insurance company, the remaining monies for your project are due.
